The Hard Way

Life running at full pace
Stops at bay.
Why doesn't it take a plunge in the ocean of happiness?
Probably,to teach a lesson the hard way.

Mistakes repeated repeatedly,
They do not rest even for a moment or two
When shall one ever repent?
If immediately, a new one follows in the old one's shoes.

One could try to be inured
Of all the thorns adorning the bouquet of life
But what can be done if upon unraveling it,
One finds only dried blossoms inside.

There were mirages of moments rejoiced in the past
now mirages have turned into meandering, blind alleys
Well, the sweet & reassuring oasis was only a blink away
When the damned life taught its lesson the hard way.

You

The whole universe has conspired
To get me inspired
Or else how would I be singing
How would I be smiling?

Shameless childish dreams of mine had been sleeping
Yearning to wake up!
But some nightmares had inhabited my nights
And shut all of my smiles up.

Oh look my lips quiver
In the anticipation of feeling some raindrops
A few of my heartbeats have formed a tune
To some of the lyrics, hummed before, that were not.

Listen to what my pulse is saying to you
Feel the music in it!
Look at my eyes twinkle,
They have found some excuse to love the world and everything in it.

I have picked up some roses from the backyard
And they adorn my white dress
My hair shines like a young black night
Isn't all of it like the first time we met?

The smile that playfully crossed your lips
The mischievousness in your eyes, apparent,
Yet didn't you innocently hold my hand
And point towards the starry sky, beautiful and eternal?

A lock of my hair when blew in air
Didn't you stop us while walking and sigh?
telling me how I am an angel
And how because of my presence, your world felt right?

Reminiscing everything I am tonight
And so I am not scared of any nightmare
I know that you are praying there, for me
As I am gazing mindlessly at your picture, here.

TRAIN JOURNEY

note: a first on train and written while traveling in the train :) here its flow of random thoughts in a more prose like fashion than poetry..

Traveled so many times by train
But this ones a bit more special
It leads to the destination
Of all my dreams and final-
Outcome lies at the end
Of this journey
When all my prayers would be answered
and to me, peace shall be rendered.

The stops and small small stations
That the train is passing by
Show all the forgotten moments
Which came in my life and whizzed past me.

A day or two is left
For a new beginning to start
All the hard work to be rewarded
Save me Almighty so that I don't fall apart.

Beautiful strangers all around
But no one to pour my feelings out to
Everyone seems embarked on a different journey
Yet the same thought, they all come back to
Of achieving their own goals
And hopefully reaching Chennai by noon.

Someone beside me is reading a book that I have already read
The characters in it ,in my mind
are still fresh
It makes me smile seeing him so engrossed in it
'Cos I know the end of it which is happy yet unexpected.

The breeze and the different sounds in a train
I always thought were overrated
Yet I am enjoying them
To the fullest
Well in a few moments
Everyone would be asleep
But I'd have to be awake
Owing to a ticket that is RAC.

Staring into the darkness
Is the job ahead
Hope I capture some nice view
And keep it safe in my head
And remember this beautiful journey
By that view and not just the destination
Start or this journey's end.

I WEPT

note: some weird day, some weird mood..

Dreary nights which surreptitiously crept
Long hours till dawn when I wept
Lonely hearts that never met
Needless to talk about the sorrow that set
in, and for them I wept
From dusk till dawn I wept.

The houses made of cards which were swept
Away by a windstorm and nothing was left
To glean and gather and to be kept
In my heart that felt bereft
For them I wept
From dusk till dawn I wept.

What can one do when one's life is a mess
Filled with forced decisions made by fate
From which one finds it hard to escape
You let them just die, your
dreams,hopes and faith
Hence I wept
From dusk till dawn I wept.

On Top Of A Rainbow

NOTE: this one is my favourite!! Its for the curious kid inside me :)

What do you see on top of a rainbow?
Colours of all kinds, red, blue and yellow?
Or just the never ending sky,
That is just too high!

Where does the rainbow hang from?
A nail on the wall of the sky seems to be the reason.
Holding the rainbow tight in its grasp
Or else how could it be so well clasped?

Can we walk up a ladder toward the rainbow?
A ladder stronger than the wind, we need although.
Would we not fall from there once we reach?
or are there cushions of clouds up there for us to sit!

If we scooped out some colours from it,
Will drops of rain pass through it?
Or would the holes be filled with snow?
And then, would it instead be called a snowbow?

Why should there be only seven colours?
Could we not pour into it some more hues?
And paint the sky with this rainbow instead of blue,
To cover our Earth with a star-studded, new colourful roof!

THE SILENT WORD

A word to make someone smile
A word to invite someone's wrath
But when love is on the mind
It seems you only don't have,

The right word that could convey
The emotions in your heart
And the thoughts in your head in a way
That makes it clear what you want.

A word that would just suffice
Like equivalent to a beautiful poem
Written with love in tear filled eyes
In the memory of someone.

For someone who is cherished to the last fibre
Who resides & dwells in your deepest core
The perfect word, wouldn't you desire?
To describe that someone some more.

But somehow a word is not enough
Yet too many of 'em lose significance
And this is when the fog of confusion clears up
When hearts just connect through the language of silence.

The waves of feelings soar & the barriers are broken
When you say so much by leaving it unspoken
All you need is a silent word,
To promise an eternal love to your love.

THE BRIDGE

I have been trying to cross the bridge
Which is precariously held on the pillars of hope
One end shows an enlightening fire
And the other is full of choking smoke.

Where shall I eventually reside?
This side of the bridge or the other side?
Greener may be the meadows there
But alive are even the fallen leaves on this side.

Destiny they say, has to be fulfilled
And meanings of prophecies realized
But isn't that enlightening fire, dangerously hot,
And that choking smoke, a soothing tide?

May be I will get my answers at the center of the bridge
If I analyze both sides with an impartial eye
I may walk on a path forward or backward,
Yet the decision, right or wrong, shall be mine.

Happy Ending

Do you enjoy bedtime stories?
Or envision yourself as a hero?
Are these real to you, Pied Piper & sleeping beauty?
Have you slept with the thoughts of an amazing tomorrow?

Does the dreamland intrigue you?
Or do you laugh its existence off?
Do fantasies knock at your doorsteps or just see through you?
Like you are too insignificant or don't belong!

Are you an optimist?
Or do you disregard hope altogether?
Is your life filled with irreverence,
For everything and you'd rather despair than believe?

Harassed are you by the uncertainty?
Or has it become a way of life?
So that you'll let yourself be shocked by a pleasant outcome,
Than believe in a happy ending?

Answers that you want are too vague!
Either you carve your own fate or on your hand it is etched.
You can never fathom the exact truth,
'Cause the only reality is life that goes on unperturbed.

TOADY

Note: long time since I put up anything !! here are two poems ( toady and my
omelette)
that will , hmmm what shall I say, they will remind you of Phoebe Buffay from
FRIENDS :).It is something new that I have tried just to have fun with poetry!

Hop hop hop goes the toad,
Sometimes in water, sometimes on the road,
Oh look at those beady eyes
With its beady eyes , hops the toad.

Making its neck huge and swollen,
Does it hide a penny in it?
Oh its tummy is swollen too, please take a note,
With its swollen tummy, hops the toad.

Slimy, grimy, sleazy and smooth,
It has supple feet and webbed toes.
And its tongue is a mile long, forget not,
With a fly in it, hop, hop hops the toad!

My Omelette

Divine, sensational and heavenly-taste incarnate
With a pinch of pepper, oh please bring me my omelette.

My tongue salivates ceaselessly
My mind works haphazardly
When I get even a whiff of it from the kitchen, nearest room, city or state!
No no people I don not exaggerate
I just truly and selflessly love my omelette.

I wish I could be blessed with redamancy
That the omelette too loves back yours truly
So when in lone hours shall I think of it
It shall also simmer with thoughts of me
It is the one I could never hate
Damn it!! bring me my omelette!

I always do justice with this culinary delight
I just dont eat it only when hungry, but all days and all nights
And yes I dream of it in my sleep till late
Have mercy and give me my omelette!

All types of food will come & go
And my dear omelette, so would your fans too
But I shall stand my ground permanently
I will never leave your never round yet perfect gait
I will kill someone if even now I didnt get my omelette!
Please get me my beloved omelette !

Note: This was written during a state of extreme hunger :)
and ya the word REDAMANCY must be something very new to some of you. It means
to be loved in return. Its an obsolete word.I like the charm and the ring of
it so used it :)
